Have you heard the recent rumors? We would like your opinion! We are hearing from a few that people are quitting the RV living lifestyle because of increases in costs, hard to find campsites, and even RV technicians that are always hard to find or always backed up for months.
We don’t think this is true. If anything, *more* people are joining the RV lifestyle and joining us on the road! Watch the full video here and let us know what you think!
More and more people can work from home, therefore they can take their work on the road. There’s increased connectivity with WIFI and other internet solutions (Here’s our internet solution). Just because you hear a couple of friends say they are going to quit, or you see a social media post about someone quitting, does not equate to ‘so many quitting’. People that mention that they are quitting, and then taking action, are two *very different* things. And that doesn’t make a statistic, or ‘trend’ that it’s actually happening.
We believe more and more people are joining this lifestyle because of all the advantages. YES, there are challenges! But there are challenges with all lifestyles. You just find ways to overcome them. Whether that’s watching your budget more or booking out campgrounds further in advance, learning about how to do the RV tech work yourself (hey there’s YouTube for that! you can learn to do ANYTHING on YouTube :), there are many solutions to overcome the challenges that come up with this lifestyle.
So, what has been *our* experience in finding a campsite? Well, it does take a little bit longer, but every area we have wanted to go to, we have always found a spot. Now, we do have a lot of different memberships: Thousand Trails, Coast to Coast, Harvest Host, Encore Parks Collection, RPI, and whatever membership that makes sense for us to stay on the road. If you have more tools, you will have more options.
Even though there are 500,000-600,000 RV’s that will be sold this year, most of those adventurers are not full-time. Many are ‘weekend warriors’ or they will just use it a couple weeks a year and the RV will reside in storage the rest of the year. So many of these RV’s will not be taking up campsites, and there are many new campsites being built. Just in the state of Florida, they are adding 7000 new campsites this year. Nationwide it is over 53,000 campsites and there will be even more built next year. Why? Because investors see the opportunity, so they will meet the demand, either building or expanding campgrounds for more campers.
So, we don’t believe the rumors. We don’t think they are accurate. Let us know what YOU think in the video comments! What has been your experience out there on the road. Are you seeing more and more people quitting? We just don’t see it. Or, are there more people joining the RV lifestyle?
